Flyway and Migrants Project

Protecting migratory birds and their habitats across the African-Eurasian Flyway through coordinated conservation action.

About this Project

In partnership with BirdLife organisations across southern Africa, we coordinate conservation actions to protect migratory birds and their habitats along the African-Eurasian Flyway. By aligning strategies, and supporting local initiatives, we ensure that key sites for feeding, roosting, and breeding are safeguarded. Together, we monitor bird populations, respond to threats, and guide habitat management across borders.

How we do it

Migratory birds travel thousands of kilometres across countries, relying on a network of safe habitats. No single organisation or country can protect them alone. By working with regional partners, we multiply our impact, ensure coordinated action, and translate research into meaningful conservation outcomes. These collaborations help preserve the species, their habitats, and the ecosystems on which both birds and people depend.
